3 Things Trump Has Done To Protect People with Disabilities During Covid

(RightIsRight.co) – Leftists will try to have many believe that Donald Trump has done nothing for the country during his term, especially when it comes to COVID-19. This simply isn’t the truth. He’s actually had many accomplishments, which have gotten quietly swept under the rug.

Tim Burt points out what many may not know:

Trump’s administration has taken COVID-19 quite seriously, to the point of defending and supporting the rights of those who have disabilities. Below are just a few examples:

  • Independent Living. $85M of direct funding was awarded to over 350 Centers for Independent Living (CILs) organizations. This ensured individuals with disabilities received food, personal care, household items, PPE, housing assistance, transportation for medical appointments, and internet access.
  • Rights Protection. Certain entities were reminded of civil rights laws and HIPAA by way of a bulletin sent from the HHS Office for Civil Rights (OCR). They were informed of their obligation to supply persons with disabilities, useful communications and reasonable alterations.
  • Preventing Abuse in Long-Term Care. In March 2020, guidance was declared by the ACL to aid the State Long-Term Care Ombudsman to continue working to protect nursing home residents when it came to their health, welfare and rights.

Trump’s administration has protected those with disabilities. He stepped up when COVID-19 became an issue. It’s clear to see the Trump administration partnered with states and local governments to help protect and empower Americans with disabilities.
