A Secret Cabal Controls US Government?!?

(RightIsRight.co) – Almost half of adult Americans believe the federal government is operated by a “secret cabal,” according to the findings of a new public opinion poll.

The survey was carried out by Benenson Strategy Group, a pro-left pollster founded by Democrat strategist Joel Benenson.

The poll asked its respondents whether they agreed with the sentence, “The federal government is controlled by a secret cabal.”

The results showed that 44% of registered US voters believe that the United States government is run in a conspiracy by a secret clique, Newsmax reported.

The survey found that the belief that a secretive group is calling the shots in the nation’s capital is shared by substantial shares of Republicans, Democrats, and Independents.

Thus, 53% of the GOP voters said they believed the secret cabal statement was true, as did 37% of the Democrats and 41% of independent voters.

The same public opinion poll also discovered that 59% of US voters think the nation is going down the road of another civil war.

An even high percentage of those polled – 71% – said they thought authoritarianism was rising.

At the same time, the Benenson poll found that most US voters – 59% – agree with the statement that the United States is a “strong democracy.”

That belief is shared by 66% of Democratic Party supporters, 55% of Republican voters, and 54% of independents.

Days ahead of the November 8 midterm election, the survey results also ranked the five most important issues to American voters: inflation, the economy, abortion and “women’s rights,” crime, and immigration.

The third spot for abortion is notable considering that President Joe Biden and other top Democrats have been campaigning to focus voter attention on abortion, rather than the sky-high inflation, as the main midterm election issue.

The Benenson survey established that the highest number of voters – 36% – believe the cause of inflation has been President Joe Biden’s economic policies, more so than anything else.

The public opinion poll was conducted among 1,000 voters nationwide from October 27-30, 2022, through an online survey. It has a margin of error of 3.1 percentage points.

Benenson Strategy Group’s founder, sociologist Joel Benenson, was a strategist for former Democrat President Barack Obama’s presidential campaigns in 2008 and 2012 and served as the chief strategist for Hillary Clinton’s failed presidential campaign in 2016.
