The Hollywood elite once again finds themselves entangled with law enforcement, as actress Kim Delanet from “NYPD Blue” series was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon following a domestic dispute with her husband.
Both Delaney and her husband, James Morgan, were taken into custody after what appears to be another episode in an ongoing cycle of domestic violence.
Deputies from the Marina Del Rey Sheriff’s Station responded to a domestic disturbance call at the couple’s Los Angeles home in the 14000 block of Marquesas Way.
The incident quickly escalated from a verbal altercation to a physical confrontation requiring police intervention.
“Subsequent to an investigation by deputies, Mrs. Kim Delaney was arrested for an assault with a deadly weapon and Mr. James Morgan was arrested for battery,” the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department stated.
Law enforcement sources described the incident as “a heated argument that turned physical.”
Morgan was charged with spousal battery and later released on a $20,000 bond. Meanwhile, Delaney’s release status remained unclear as of Monday morning.
Both parties are scheduled to appear in court at the LAX Courthouse to face their respective charges.
This situation is not the first sign of trouble in their relationship. Court records revealed that Delaney filed for divorce just five months after their October 2022 wedding, citing domestic violence.
She also sought a temporary restraining order against Morgan, alleging past abuse and threats. Although the restraining order was initially issued in April 2023, it was never formalized due to Delaney’s non-appearance in court.
“Whenever James gets mad, which is often he will shout loudly, push me, hit me, pull my hair. Neighbors have heard the noise & intervened often in the past year. The Sheriff came in March 2022 and many times in 2023,” the actress wrote in the court documents.
Moreover, the arrests came nearly six months after what would have been the couple’s second wedding anniversary, highlighting the turbulent nature of their relationship.
Delaney has been married twice, to actors Charles Grant and Joe Cortese, with whom she has a son.
Delaney rose to fame for her Emmy-winning performance as Detective Diane Russell on the ABC police drama “NYPD Blue.”
She won the prestigious award in 1997 and was nominated three additional times. Her acting career includes appearances on “Army Wives,” “All My Children,” and “General Hospital.”
This incident adds to Delaney’s history of personal troubles, which include alcohol-related issues, past DUI arrests, and multiple stints in rehabilitation facilities.
Her public struggles stand in stark contrast to the strong, capable characters she has portrayed on screen throughout her career.
As Hollywood continues to grapple with exposing the private demons of its stars, this latest incident serves as a reminder that fame and fortune provide no immunity from the real-world consequences of domestic violence and substance abuse.
