(RightIsRight.co) – Police in New Jersey have arrested three residents from Florida in connection with a horrific acid attack on a 42-year-old woman.
According to a source, the incident occurred on July 26th and the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office in New Jersey stated that the woman was on her way home when someone poured “liquid contents” directly on her.
Prosecutors stated that the victim returned home from work and parked in the driveway of her Monroe Township residence, while authorities said an “unknown female” approached the victim and threw the liquid before fleeing the scene.
The victim was airlifted to a burn center and is still being treated for chemical burns covering over 35% of her body.
Officials believed the liquid used was a highly caustic acid.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), caustic chemicals, such as acids and corrosive agents, can burn or corrode people’s skin, eyes, and mucus membranes on contact.
Moreover, police tracked down the getaway vehicle, leading them to two suspects: 38-year-old Betty Jo Lane and 39-year-old Jmarr McNeil.
Prosecutors alleged that the pair were hired by 49-year-old William DiBernardino.
Additionally, they also claimed that the suspects had a prior relationship with the victim.
Originally from Florida, the three suspects were extradited from the city to New Jersey this week.
They will face charges of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, first-degree attempted murder, aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and stalking.
The release added that several federal and Florida law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, U.S. Marshals Service, Florida Highway Patrol, Boynton Beach Police, and the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Department, assisted in the investigation.
