Biden Asked to Expel 300 Russian Diplomats

(RightIsRight.co) – People around the world know Russian President Vladimir Putin for making bold, powerful moves in hopes he won’t receive pushback. His latest show of strength came when he forced the US State Department to fire over 180 Russian workers at the US Embassy in late July. However, a bipartisan group of Senators is urging President Joe Biden to fight back.

On Tuesday, October 5, four Senators sent a letter to Biden pointing out the “unacceptable” inequality between the Russian embassy in the US and the US Embassy in Russia. According to the letter, Russia has over 400 diplomats in the US while the US now only has around 100 Americans in Russia.

The four Senators who asked Biden “to begin expelling Russian diplomats, to bring the US diplomatic presence to parity” are:

  • Bob Menendez (D-NJ)
  • James Risch (R-ID)
  • Mark Warner (D-VA)
  • Marco Rubio (R-FL)

However, Putin heard about the Senator’s proposal and shot back. Journalist Bryan MacDonald shared more about Putin’s potential retaliation if Biden follows the Senators’ suggestions:

Foreign embassies provide protection, aid, help, and a place of respite to their citizens within foreign countries. A fully operational embassy in Russia is key to meeting the needs of Americans abroad, and thus, it’s understandable why these Senators want President Biden to match Putin’s aggression with his own show of strength. However, it’s now up to the president to decide if he’s up for the challenge.
