(RightIsRight.co) – Republican US Senator Rick Scott of Florida has released a new ad calling on President Joe Biden to resign the presidency for having “cheated on his taxes.”
Scott’s new campaign ad, in which he directly attacks Biden, was launched on Wednesday in his home state, Newsmax reported.
The ad starts by declaring that Joe Biden stripped Medicare of $280 billion in federal government funding and that the president is moving ahead with a plan to swell the Internal Revenue Service with thousands of additional tax agents.
After that, the GOP US Senator accuses the Democrat president of large-scale tax evasion.
“What you don’t know is that Joe Biden also cheated on his taxes and got away with it. Biden improperly used a loophole to dodge half a million dollars in taxes that should have gone to Medicare,” Scott said.
“Now that Biden has ripped off Medicare for half a million dollars, he wants to close the loophole and raise your taxes,” the former Florida governor added.
“Biden should resign,” he concluded.
Senator Rick Scott’s attack ad against Biden came after the president’s State of the Union address on Tuesday night.
In his speech, Biden claimed that “some Republicans” wanted to “sunset,” that is, end federal social safety net programs such as Medicare and Social Security.
The report noted that Biden might have been referring to a plan by Scott requiring the renewal of federal programs every five years.
The White House responded to Rick Scott’s anti-Biden campaign ad with counter-accusations against the US Senator from Florida.
“Senator Scott’s ad only cements that congressional Republicans are targeting Medicare,” Andrew Bates, the Deputy Press Secretary of Biden’s White House, told Fox News.
“Repealing the AARP-backed Inflation Reduction Act, as Scott’s now calling for, would impose the biggest cut to Medicare benefits in decades,” Bates added.
He was referring to the support of the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) for the massive spending law adopted by Congress last year.
“Every time Rick Scott opens his mouth, he proves the president’s point. The man who got rich overseeing the biggest Medicare fraud in history is protesting too much — again,” the White House official added.
He was referring to the 1997 case in which Rick Scott had to resign as CEO of Columbia/HCA, at the time America’s biggest for-profit healthcare company, after it defrauded Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal programs. As a result, the company was fined $1.7 billion.
