Border Patrol Detained Record Number of ‘Terrorists’

A record number of suspected terrorists, nearly 100, were intercepted and detained at the Southern Border in the 2022 fiscal year, a surge of more than 3,000% compared with 2020, the last year before President Joe Biden entered the White House.

The staggering increase in terror watch list detentions on the US – Mexican border in FY 2022, which ended on September 30, has come against the backdrop of a record number of illegal immigrants entering the United States.

The latest data from US Customs and Border Protection shows that 98 individuals on America’s terror watch list were caught trying to enter the US over the past fiscal year.

That is over three times more than the combined total for the past five years, which stood at 29: there were two suspected terrorist detentions at the border in 2017, six in 2018, three in 2019, three in 2020, and 15 in 2021.

Thus, the FY 2022 number of wannabe terrorists arrested at the border presents a 653% increase compared with 2021, the first year of Biden’s presidency, and a mind-blowing 3,266% increase compared with 2020, the last year of Donald Trump’s presidency.

The spike in suspected terrorist apprehensions comes as nearly 2.3 million illegal immigrants were detained at the Southern border in FY 2022.

The number in question does not include estimated hundreds of thousands of gotaways who managed to enter the US undetected.

Well over 5 million illegal immigrants have penetrated the United States since Joe Biden occupied the White House more than 20 months ago – including an estimated 1 million gotaways who sneaked into the country without getting caught.

Besides the tremendous spike in terror watch list detentions on the border with Mexico, there has also been a year-on-year increase of 600% in the apprehensions of “special interest migrants.” These are illegal immigrants from countries with active terrorist organizations.

“Anybody that doesn’t think that serious threats to this country are sneaking in right now is naïve,” former Border Patrol Chief Rodney Scott commented to The Daily Caller.

At the same time, in her latest comments on the migrant crisis, Vice President Kamala Harris has maintained that “the border is secure.”

In March 2021, Biden appointed Harris as his administration’s “point person” on the border issues, but since then, she has never visited the actual border.

“There is no question that we have to do what the president and I asked Congress to do. The first request we pass a bill to create a pathway to citizenship. The border is secure, but we also have a broken immigration system and particular[ly] over the last four years before we came in, and it needs to be fixed,” Harris declared in an NBC News interview last month.
