(RightIsRight.co) – Happening Now: Just moments ago, President Joe Biden announced that he is appointing Karine Jean-Pierre as White House press secretary.
Jean-Pierre will take over for the current press secretary, Jen Psaki, when Psaki steps down on May 13th.
According to White House historians, Jean-Pierre will be one of the most liberal individuals ever to hold the highly-visible job of speaking on behalf of the president and providing almost daily televised press briefings.
Jean-Pierre, a former top spokeswoman for MoveOn.org, will be the first openly gay and Black White House press secretary. She currently serves Biden and Psaki as the principal deputy White House press secretary.
Before coming to the White House, Jean-Pierre was a paid political analyst for MSNBC and a senior official on the 2020 Biden campaign.
In making the announcement, Biden took a swipe at the Trump administration while saying why he had selected Jean-Pierre and thanking Psaki, saying:
“Karine not only brings the experience, talent, and integrity needed for this difficult job, but she will continue to lead the way in communicating about the work of the Biden-Harris Administration on behalf of the American people. Jill and I have known and respected Karine a long time, and she will be a strong voice speaking for me and this Administration.
“Jen Psaki has set the standard for returning decency, respect, and decorum to the White House Briefing Room. I want to say thank you to Jen for raising the bar, communicating directly and truthfully to the American people, and keeping her sense of humor while doing so. I thank Jen for her service to the country and wish her the very best as she moves forward.”
