(RightIsRight.co) – BREAKING NOW: Speaking to at least one mainstream media reporter at The New York Times, former Vice President Mike Pence has gone on record for the first time saying he is ready and willing to challenge former President Donald Trump for the 2024 Republican Presidential Nomination.
Given Pence’s recent public speaking schedule that has taken him to crucial GOP primary and caucus states, today’s revelation is not a total shock to the pundits who read the early political tea leaves to determine who is making a move.
Still, with several big-name Republicans already on record saying they won’t run if Trump does, Pence’s willingness — perhaps even determination — to challenge his old boss may be the clearest sign yet that Pence remains angry at Trump over events that took place at the United States Capitol Complex protest on January 6, 2021. Pence has told more than a few confidants that his life was in danger and that Trump did nothing to help Pence when he was in hiding at the Capitol.
In response to The New York Times report that Pence is already laying the groundwork to run against Trump, a Trump spokesperson told the Times that Pence is “desperate to chase his lost relevance.”
The Times also reports that Pence and Trump haven’t spoken since “last summer” and that the “rupture is complete.”
