(RightIsRight.co) – For 13 years, Jamie Spears, father of singer Britney Spears, has handled his daughter’s multi-million dollar estate. However, after a long and daunting legal battle, the pop icon is now free from her father’s alleged mistreatment. Instead, an accountant will temporarily manage her conservatorship.
On Wednesday, September 29, Judge Brenda Penny suspended Jamie Spears from overseeing Britney’s estate and gave the position to California accountant John Zabel. Additional changes to the conservatorship will likely come in October when Judge Penny rules on a separate conservator who oversees the singer’s more personal affairs.

Jamie Spears defended his time in charge of his daughter’s estate in a statement given by his lawyer. He emphasized the “tremendous amount of daily worry and work” consumed in dealing with Britney and her mental health issues. The statement also said “the court was wrong” in its decision, and criticized the large public outcries to “Free Britney” that parallelled the case.
While Jamie may be unhappy with the judge’s decision, it’s a clear step forward for the “Toxic” singer as she has a hopefully unbiased third party to manage her financial estate. America will get to see if Britney gains full control of her life In the coming months, or if she stays under the guidance of others.
