(RightIsRight.co) – In a desperate attempt to “Trump-proof” the state, California Governor Gavin Newsom called the legislature into an emergency session.
Set to begin on December 2, Newsom’s emergency legislative move seeks to enshrine radical liberal policies before Trump takes office.
Himself a vocal critic of Trump and potential 2028 presidential hopeful, Newsom is pulling out all the stops to shield California’s extreme progressive agenda.
The governor’s move comes despite Trump’s significant gains in the state, where he won 40% of the vote – a six-point increase from 2020. This surge in support clearly rattled Newsom and his fellow Democrats.
The special session will focus on fortifying California’s far-left stance on issues like illegal immigration, environmental regulations and abortion.
Newsom’s administration is even preparing to increase funding for the attorney general’s office in anticipation of a series of legal battles against the incoming Trump administration.
State Attorney General Rob Bonta has already reviewed over 120 lawsuits from Trump’s first term, gearing up for a taxpayer-funded legal assault on the federal government.
“The freedoms we hold dear in California are under attack — and we won’t sit idle,” Newsom said in a statement. “California has faced this challenge before, and we know how to respond.”
“We are prepared to fight in the courts, and we will do everything necessary to ensure Californians have the support and resources they need to thrive,” he added.
Newsom’s declaration of war against the incoming Trump administration exposes his priorities: protecting illegals, pushing radical environmental policies and ensuring taxpayer-funded abortions.
Republican lawmakers in California have called out Newsom’s political theatrics. Assembly Republican Leader James Gallagher stated, “The only ‘problem’ it will solve is Gavin Newsom’s insecurity that not enough people are paying attention to him.”
