(RightIsRight.co) – If anyone was worried about what would happen to the “comedic” career of Chris Rock after Will Smith slapped him because he told a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith that Will Smith supposedly found offensive (after first laughing at the joke, go figure), they need not be concerned.
It seems Chris Rock’s career will be both perfectly safe and exceedingly profitable following the altercation at Sunday’s Oscars.
As ZeroHedge points out in “Chris Rock Gets Last Laugh As Tickets For Next Stand-Up Performance Jump 10x“:
“Rock might be getting the last laugh as ticket prices for his upcoming shows have gone parabolic, according to ticketing site, TickPick.
“On Monday, TickPick tweeted, ‘We sold more tickets to see Chris Rock overnight than we did in the past month combined.’
“TickPick’s public relations representative Kyle Zorn tweeted that Rock’s upcoming performance at Boston’s Wilbur Theater on Wednesday saw ticket prices for the cheapest seats jump from $46 to $411, nearly a 10x increase since the slapping incident.
“Commenting on Zorn’s tweet, many folks said: ‘drama sells.'”
Those folks tweeting that “drama sells” are absolutely correct. In the United States, nothing boosts a career more than controversy.
So, there can be little doubt that Chris Rock will get the last laugh from Sunday night’s smackdown. To put a finer point on it, Rock will be laughing all the way to the bank.
