(RightIsRight.co) – Leave it to CNN to compare the world’s most popular podcaster – Joe Rogan – with what took place at the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021.
Unbelievably, that’s exactly what CNN did.
In a piece headlined “Why shrugging off Joe Rogan’s use of the n-word is so dangerous,” a CNN employee argues that Joe Rogan’s use of the “n-word” years ago on his podcast was part and parcel with the individuals who were out of control on January 6th.
First, before sharing some of what this CNN employee wrote, it’s important to remember that Rogan’s use of the n-word was not in a racist fashion. It was done while he discussed the word on his talk show/podcast and how it’s used in society. He wasn’t hurling it at Blacks in the way that racists do. Further, even though perfectly defensible when heard in the context it was being used, Rogan has apologized and said he regrets even having used it the way he did.
Now, along comes CNN and, in a lengthy written piece, tries to place much of society’s current ills at the feet of Rogan and others like Rogan.
It’s a ludicrous argument in a ridiculous opinion piece that should’ve never been published.
The author/employee opens his piece by stating:
“The podcaster Joe Rogan did not join a mob that forced lawmakers to flee for their lives. He never carried a Confederate flag inside the US Capitol rotunda. No one died trying to stop him from using the n-word.
“But what Rogan and those that defend him have done since video clips of him using the n-word surfaced on social media is arguably just as dangerous as what a mob did when they stormed the US Capitol on January 6 last year.
“Rogan breached a civic norm that has held America together since World War II. It’s an unspoken agreement that we would never return to the kind of country we used to be.” [emphasis added]
After arguing that the “civic norm” is that White people are not allowed to use the n-word without “paying a price,” the CNN author tries to link Rogan and January 6th by stating:
“But once we allow a White public figure to repeatedly use the foulest racial epithet in the English language without experiencing any form of punishment, we become a different country.
“We accept the mainstreaming of a form of political violence that’s as dangerous as the January 6 attack.” [emphasis added]
Honestly, in a country founded on free speech and liberty, this may be the most outrageous, wrong, and ludicrous argument we’ve ever come across. If you can stomach reading the entire piece, you can click HERE.
