On Wednesday (May 10), a super PAC backing Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) attacked former President Donald Trump for his CNN town hall appearance, saying it increases the need to find another Republican nominee in 2024.

Erin Perrine, a spokesperson for “Never Back Down” PAC, shared that “On the same day Ron DeSantis was asailing Joe Biden” regarding the border crisis, Donald Trump was attacking the Florida Governor on CNN and “lying about” the completion of the border wall.

Perrine described the town hall as “more than an hour of nonsense that proved Trump is stuck in the past,” which she said was “expected.”

Perrine also suggested that at 76 years old, Trump still didn’t know where he stood on “important conservative issues” like pro-life and the Second Amendment, querying how someone like that would “Make America Great Again?”

Trump held a town hall with New Hampshire Republican voters on CNN.

It was Trump’s first appearance on CNN since 2016, with Never Back Down criticizing Trump earlier in the evening for appearing on the network after spending years deriding it as “fake news.”

One attendee asked Trump about government mandates for businesses, a question considered a jab at DeSantis regarding his ongoing battle with the Disney Corp in Florida.

Trump took the opportunity to lambast the Florida governor, considered Trump’s strongest competitor in the GOP primaries, saying he thinks DeSantis “just relax and take it easy” and consider his future, suggesting the Florida Governor’s future “is not looking so good.”
