(RightIsRight.co) – The unique benefit of the right to bear arms has kept America free for over 200 years. Perhaps the Left has forgotten that owning guns is a freedom granted by the Constitution, because they continue to call for stricter gun control nearly every day. The latest push comes from Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA).
Feinstein Hopes to End Assault Rifles
On Wednesday, March 3, Senator Feinstein shared a statement supporting the Background Check Expansion Act which calls for universal background checks. She piggybacked on that statement with her own plan to reintroduce a bill banning assault weapons in the coming weeks. She declared that the bill would “end gun violence” and help combat what the Left likes to call “domestic terrorism.”
While the California lawmaker believes additional government regulations would stop violent criminals from attacking others, she doesn’t quite understand that those who resort to gun violence often don’t get their weapons in legal ways. In addition, Feinstein does not state why she desires to specifically ban assault weapons when they’re functionally the same as many hunting rifles.
Republicans Push Back Against Gun Control
As Democrats continue to shove their anti-gun agenda through Congress, Republicans are quick to speak out. House Representative Mary Miller (R-IL) called out HR 8, a recent bill passed in the House. The bill would restrict private gun sales and extend the time allotted for federal background checks, likely causing enormous delays.
Representative Miller called the belief that universal background checks would make the nation safer “laughable” and added that the problem is not a lack of gun laws. Rather than more laws, we need “better enforcement” and to provide our police officers with the right resources to enforce the laws we do have.
Democrats Won’t Stop Clamping Down on Gun Control
While the Left continues to infringe on our Second Amendment rights, we must look ahead to how far they are hoping to go. Many Democrats want to make a national gun registry and put additional limits on a slew of other firearms, many commonly used for hunting, recreation, and self-defense.
But, we must stop them long before they make it that far. Let’s use our voices and our votes to ensure our lawmakers know that we demand our freedom to bear arms in order to protect our nation and our way of life.
