(RightIsRight.co) – In a disgusting display of disregard for human life and the law, a Texas woman has been charged with attempting to sell her newborn baby on Facebook for a mere $150.
21-year-old Texas mother Juniper Bryson, faces a third-degree felony charge for the “sale or purchase of a child.”
Bryson’s actions came to light when she reached out to six potential buyers on Facebook before giving birth, brazenly attempting to profit from her own child.
Despite being explicitly warned that her actions were illegal, Bryson shockingly defended her attempt to sell her baby as a “different kind of adoption,” comparing it to surrogacy.
This misguided justification ignores the fundamental difference between legal surrogacy arrangements and the outright sale of a child, which is strictly prohibited under Texas law.
Adding to the gravity of the situation, Bryson’s newborn reportedly tested positive for drugs, indicating that she had endangered the child’s health even before birth.
She allegedly said in a message over the social media platform to a woman she called Aunt Jenna, “It’s not even like that it’s just enough to move into an apartment so I can work a job…”
Bryson’s attempt to justify her actions with claims of financial hardship is a weak excuse for such a heinous act.
Texas has “safe haven” laws that allow parents to surrender newborns at designated safe places within 60 days of birth, providing a legal and safe alternative for mothers in difficult situations.
Meanwhile, the case becomes even more concerning when examining Bryson’s criminal history.
She has prior arrests for unauthorized use of a vehicle, assault, and criminal mischief, though these cases were dismissed due to her involvement in a federal case.
Recognizing the severity of the situation, the court set Bryson’s bail at $30,000, higher than the $20,000 requested by prosecutors.
Furthermore, the investigation revealed that Bryson had communicated with multiple prospective adoptive parents, some of whom were struggling with infertility.
This case serves as a reminder of the importance of robust child protection laws and the need for increased vigilance in monitoring social media platforms for illegal adoption practices.
It also highlights the critical role of responsible citizens in reporting suspicious activities to authorities, as demonstrated by Wendy Williams, who alerted Child Protective Services to Bryson’s behavior.
