Elon Fires Infamous Attorney Over Hunter Biden Documents

(RightIsRight.co) – Twitter’s new owner and CEO, Elon Musk, has revealed that he axed the company’s former deputy general counsel Jim Baker, a controversial former FBI official, for suppressing information about the platform’s censoring of the Hunter Biden laptop revelations.

“In light of concerns about Baker’s possible role in suppression of information important to the public dialogue, he was exited from Twitter today,” Musk tweeted earlier this week.

James “Jim” Baker was an employee of the US Justice Department from 1990-2018. He was involved in the notorious “Trump – Russia collusion” investigation and served as the FBI’s general counsel.

Baker was a deputy general counsel at Twitter Inc. from June 2020 – December 2022 before he got fired by Elon Musk, who declared that the ex-DOJ official covered up information that was “important to the public dialogue.”

Baker’s axing comes amid Musk’s continuing release of internal Twitter records exposing how the platform censored the 2020 reports about Hunter Biden’s lost laptop and did it at the direction of Joe Biden’s campaign and other Democrats.

The news about the ex-DOJ official’s sacking was first broken by journalist Matt Taibbi who has been analyzing and releasing the so-called “Twitter Files” that Musk is handing over to him, Breitbart News reported.

“[Baker was fired for] vetting the first batch of ‘Twitter Files’ without knowledge of new management,” Taibbi wrote.

Reporter Bari Weiss, who has been reporting on the Twitter Files with Taibbi, made it clear she was shocked to learn that Jim Baker was in charge of releasing the internal documents at Elon Musk’s order.

“My jaw hit the floor,” Weiss wrote in a Twitter post.

Taibbi himself emphasized Baker’s involvement with the infamous Steele Dossier, which falsely claimed that former President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign was colluding with the regime of Putin’s Russia.

“Baker is a controversial figure. He has been something of a Zelig of FBI controversies dating back to 2016, from the Steele Dossier to the Alfa-Server mess. He resigned in 2018 after an investigation into leaks to the press,” the journalist wrote.

Legal scholar Jonathan Turley has shed more light on Jim Baker’s role in the Trump – Russia collusion claims.

“Baker has been featured repeatedly in the Russian investigations launched by the Justice Department, including the hoax involving the Russian Alfa Bank. When Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussmann wanted to plant the bizarre false claim of a secret communications channel between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin, Baker was his go-to, speed-dial contact,” Turley wrote.

“Baker’s name also appeared prominently in controversies related to the other Russian-related FBI allegations against Trump. He was effectively forced out due to his role and reportedly found himself under criminal investigation,” the legal scholar elaborated.

He pointed out that after Baker left the FBI and the DOJ, the previous management of “Twitter seemed eager to hire” him.
