(RightIsRight.co) – After discovering he has a serious heart condition that demands urgent medical attention, famed rocker Traffic musician Dave Mason has canceled his fall “Traffic Jam 2024” West Coast tour.
The news was announced via Instagram.
“Dave Mason has announced the cancellation of his Fall ‘Traffic Jam 2024’ west coast tour after doctors detected a serious heart condition during a routine appointment that requires immediate medical attention,” the statement read.
His doctors remain hopeful, stating, “His team of doctors expect a full and successful recovery, and Mason plans to resume his touring plans in 2025.”
Mason spoke directly to his fans in a message on the band’s website.
“I’m heartbroken to have to cancel these dates, but it’s Doctor’s orders,” he stated. “I’ll be back, and better than ever, in 2025.”
Even though there was no further information shared about the 78-year-old’s current health struggle, his team has not provided any details regarding treatment or prognosis.
In turn, the rocker’s musical career has seen him working alongside giants like the Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac and Jimi Hendrix.
In 2004, his contributions were formally recognized when he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Traffic. The original lineup included Mason, Steve Winwood, Jim Capaldi and Chris Wood.
The now-canceled shows were set to take place in Arizona, Nevada and California, with dates running through October 12.
Moreover, earlier signs of trouble came in September when the first two tour stops in Phoenix and Las Vegas were scrapped “under the advice of doctors.”
No word yet on whether the canceled dates will be rescheduled.
However, fans have already filled social media with messages of support, wishing Mason a full and speedy recovery.
