(RightIsRight.co) – Most Americans held out hope that the terrorist group ISIS had been defeated. However, on President Joe Biden’s first full day in office, the terrorist faction carried out a twin suicide bombing in Baghdad, Iraq that killed a minimum of 32 people and injured over 100 more.
On Thursday, January 21, two ISIS followers walked into Aviation Square in Baghdad. The first pretended to have stomach pain in order to draw in a crowd before detonating his explosive belt. The second suicide bomber detonated his explosives soon after.
In response to the horrendous attack, the US Embassy in Baghdad shared the following statement on Twitter:
This attack is a reprehensible act of cowardice that underscores the dangers of terrorism that millions of Iraqis continue to face. We extend our condolences to the families of these victims, and hope for the swift recovery for those who were injured. 2/2

This instance was the first major attack in Iraq since January 2018. CBN News relayed a statement from Major General Tahsin al-Khafaji, the spokesman for the Joint Operations Command:
“This is a terrorist act perpetrated by a sleeper cell of the Islamic State,” al-Khafaji said. He said IS “wanted to prove its existence" after suffering many blows in military operations to root out the militants.https://t.co/ezHnN5iU4R # via @CBNNews

This attack is a harrowing reminder that there are still some in the world hoping to destroy the freedom and liberties the United States supports all around the globe.
