On Monday, January 11, First Lady Melania Trump (FLOTUS) released a statement addressing the events of the past week, asking Americans to “rise above what divides us.”
FLOTUS eloquently relayed her condolences for the Americans who lost their lives in the demonstrations at Capitol Hill, expressing disappointment in the tragic events and “absolutely” condemning the violence that took place.
Additionally, First Lady Melania shared that she’s inspired by American passion and enthusiasm and thankful for our “freedom to express our viewpoints without persecution.” She asks Americans to define ourselves through “empathy, strength, and determination” as we all continue to walk through the pandemic and unrest.
Melania concluded her statement with appreciation for her supporters:
