(RightIsRight.co) – The Boulder Police Department (BPD) is investigating a shocking incident at the Kappa Sigma fraternity house at the University of Colorado Boulder, where six college students overdosed on potentially tainted cocaine and now are in the hospital.
Over the weekend, emergency services rushed to the Kappa Sigma fraternity house on Pennsylvania Avenue after receiving reports of multiple individuals exhibiting severe overdose symptoms.
Six individuals were treated at the hospital and on-site by medical personnel, with one initially in grave condition. Fortunately, all are now stable.
The incident occurred at a fraternity that had been expelled from the interfraternity council in 2015 for safety and welfare violations.

While authorities believed the cocaine consumed was possibly tainted, and alcohol was also involved, this deadly combination underscores the urgent need to address the drug epidemic that continues to threaten youth communities across America.
Detectives are exploring whether this incident is related to fraternity pledging, a practice that has long been associated with dangerous hazing rituals and substance abuse.
While the University of Colorado Boulder is providing support through various services and collaborating with law enforcement, citizens wonder whether these measures are enough.
The fact that the university offers free naloxone and fentanyl test strips raises concerns about enabling drug use rather than preventing it outright.
Moreover, the ongoing investigation and pending charges should serve as a wake-up call to both students and administrators.
It is time for universities to take a harder stance against drug use and implement stricter policies to protect youth from these deadly substances.
