Gavin Newsom Recall Support Suddenly Gains Traction

(RightIsRight.co) – Not too surprisingly, California has been one of the most restrictive states during COVID-19, enforcing numerous mask mandates, mandatory shutdowns, and travel bans in attempts to tamp down the spread of coronavirus. However, while all of this was going on, Governor Gavin Newsom’s (D) popularity fell quite a bit. This lead to a recall attempt against him. According to a new poll, the push to remove him from office is gathering steam.

On Tuesday, August 3, Emerson College Polling released a new poll showing that Governor Newsom is facing a tough recall election come September 14. According to the study, 46% of Californians want to recall the governor, a 3-point increase from a poll conducted 2 weeks earlier.

California Capitol correspondent Ashley Zavala shared more of the data on Twitter:

Many previously undecided voters now favor recalling Newsom. While the majority of those opposed to Newsom remaining in office are Republicans, the survey showed that 23% of Democrats also support the recall.

In addition, the poll found that black, conservative radio show host Larry Elder is at the top of the list to replace Newsom, coming in with 23% support. Only time will tell what will happen in the special election, but thankfully, Californians will have the opportunity to make changes soon if they so desire.
