(RightIsRight.co) – The new Republican majority in the US House of Representatives has moved to act on its campaign promise to impeach Alejandro Mayorkas, President Joe Biden’s pro-immigration Secretary of Homeland Security and the man many believe responsible for the illegal alien invasion of the United States.
Republican US Rep. Pat Fallon of Connecticut has filed articles of impeachment against Mayorkas.
In November, after the GOP took back the House in the 2022 midterms, future Speaker Kevin McCarthy vowed Biden’s DHS chief would face an impeachment inquiry if he didn’t resign.
Fallon introduced on Monday “House Resolution 8,” containing the articles of impeachment against Mayorkas for “high crimes and misdemeanors,” Fox News reported.
The Connecticut US Representative promised last week to move on the Secretary of Homeland Security’s impeachment as soon as the new Congress got sworn in because of the enormous illegal immigration crisis on the Southern Border.
“Since day one, Secretary Mayorkas’ policies have undermined law enforcement activities at our southern border,” Fallon said in a statement last week.
“From perjuring himself before Congress about maintaining operational control of the border to the infamous ‘whip-gate’ slander against our border patrol agents, Secretary Mayorkas has proven time and time again that he is unfit to lead the Department of Homeland Security,” he added.
“His willful actions have eroded our immigration system, undermined border patrol morale, and jeopardized American national security. He has violated the law, and it is time for him to go,” Fallon elaborated.
The exact text of the impeachment articles against Mayorkas has remained confidential. Still, according to the report, the first article accuses him of failing to execute the “Secure the Fence Act of 2006” and losing “operational control” over America’s borders.
The second article says Mayorkas “in violation of his constitutional oath, willfully provided perjurious, false, and misleading testimony to Congress” when on April 26 and November 15, the Biden official told Congress the border was “secure.”
The third and final article states that Mayorkas “publicly and falsely slandered” border agents for “whipping” Haitian migrants in Del Rio, Texas, in 2021, a claim exposed later as a lie.
“The 511-page report by the US Customs and Border Protection’s Office of Personal Responsibility found ‘no evidence that [Border Patrol agents] involved in this incident struck, intentionally or otherwise, any migrant with their reins,’” Fallon writes.
“Secretary Mayorkas slandered his own Border Patrol agents and TXDPS Troopers involved in this incident, contributing to a further decrease in already-low morale among agents,” he adds.
Speaking on ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday, Mayorkas declared he had no intention whatsoever to resign from his job.
“I do not. I’ve got a lot of work to do, and we’re going to do it,” Biden’s Homeland Security Secretary said.
He added he would be prepared for any investigations by the Republican majority in the House.
