(RightIsRight.co) – As the protest by Canadian and American truckers involved in cross-border freight transportation continues, the Canadian government has seized millions of donated dollars that individuals from all over the world had sent to support the truckers.
As Global News reports in Ontario freezes funds from GiveSendGo trucker convoy fundraiser:
“The Ontario government says it has successfully petitioned a court to freeze access to millions of dollars donated through online fundraising platform GiveSendGo to the convoy protesting COVID-19 restrictions in Ottawa and at several border crossings.
“The province obtained an order from the Superior Court of Justice that prohibits anyone from distributing donations made through the website’s “Freedom Convoy 2022” and “Adopt-a-Trucker” campaign pages, said a spokeswoman for Premier Doug Ford.”
And now, not only is Joe Biden applauding the actions of the Ontario government in seizing the donated monies, he’s calling on the Canadian government to use force – “federal power” – to break up the protest that has all but halted shipments between the United States and Canada.
As Global News notes in a second report:
“The Biden administration urged Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government Thursday to use its federal powers to end the truck blockade by Canadians protesting the country’s COVID-19 restrictions, as the bumper-to-bumper demonstration forced auto plants on both sides of the border to shut down or scale back production.”
All of this use of governmental power and overreach comes as polls show that significant portions of Canadians and Americans support the truckers’ protest as they believe the truckers are expressing the same frustration they have with both the Canadian and American governments when it comes to Covid mandates.
