(RightIsRight.co) – Over the past year, Michigan’s Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer has been known for the draconian shutdowns and insane mask and testing rules she imposed upon her constituents. But, after a slew of lawsuits last year challenging her authority, it looks like Whitmer is finally beginning to understand what her citizens actually want.
On Sunday, April 18, Whitmer spoke with NBC’s Chuck Todd about the recent spike in COVID-19 cases in her state. While previously she had imposed intense shutdowns during such times, now she can no longer do so due to an October Michigan Supreme Court ruling. However, she refused to take responsibility for the protests of her rules, shown here by Andrea Pollock, the Political Director for Michigan’s Republican Party:
Long thread, but worth the read. Whitmer is making a politically motivated choice not to shut things down amid this latest spike in cases. And to cover herself, she is deflecting blame to not only the MSC & Legislature, but MI citizens. That is not leadership. MI deserves better. https://t.co/RfrmdjouXf

Thankfully, the long fight by Republicans in the northern state has finally gotten Michigan residents a bit of their freedom back. Rather than face ridiculous shutdown measures that destroy the economy, each person in Michigan can now choose for themselves what level of risk and involvement they want to take when it comes to the COVID-19 pandemic.
