(RightIsRight.co) – With Jill Biden having just accomplished what Joe Biden hasn’t, some Republicans and Democrats alike are starting to ask questions about Joe Biden’s courage.
Although Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ukrainian President, has repeatedly asked Joe Biden to visit Ukraine, Biden has not done so.
However, his wife, Jill Biden, arrived in Ukraine for a surprise meeting today.
Jill Biden intentionally arrived on Mother’s Day and met with President Zelensky’s wife, Olena Zelenska. With Zelenska at her side, Biden spoke about her support for the war-torn country and its beleaguered people.
“I wanted to come on Mother’s Day,” Biden said to the gathered crowd and reporters. “I thought it was important to show the Ukrainian people that this war has to stop and this war has been brutal and that the people of the United States stand with the people of Ukraine.”
After Biden completed a long trip from the United States, the eventual private meeting between Jill Biden and Olena Zelenska took place in Uzhhorod, a small city of approximately 100,000 residents. For security reasons, the trip was unannounced and carried out with total secrecy.
The private conversation was held in a classroom in a school that is now housing refugees from Ukraine who have fled their homelands in other regions of Ukraine that have been destroyed or are at extreme risk by the actions of the Russian military.
While speaking with Biden before the gathered reporters, Zelenska thanked Biden for her “courageous act” in coming to Ukraine, adding, “We understand what it takes for the U.S. first lady to come here during a war when military actions are taking place every day, where the air sirens are happening every day — even today.”
