On Sunday (June 18), Ivanka Trump ended her Twitter silence following her father’s recent indictment by the federal government.
Former President Donald Trump was indicted stemming and faces 37 Federal charges relating to an investigation into his mishandling of classified documents.
The Department of Justice (DOJ) claims that he took these documents to his Mar-a-Lago private residence in Florida and obstructed the government’s efforts to return those documents to the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA).
Trump has pleaded not guilty to the charges during his arraignment in Miami on Tuesday (June 13), maintaining his innocence throughout the DOJ’s investigation.
Despite the allegations, Trump has been considered the frontrunner for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination since launching his reelection campaign in November.
On Sunday afternoon, Ivanka took to Twitter to send a Father’s Day message to her husband Jared Kushner but not her own father Donald Trump.
This was her first tweet since her father’s federal charges were announced.
A few hours later, Ivanka posted a photo to Twitter with her as a young child and her father, writing, “Happy Father’s Day, dad ! I love you !”
Newsweek reported that Robert Collins, a professor at Dillard University and political analyst, expressed that Ivanka’s decision to not directly address her father’s federal indictment could be considered “hurtful.”
Ivanka has stepped away from the political limelight since the January 6, 2021, riot, despite her role as senior adviser in her father’s administration.
Before her Father’s Day wishes, Ivanka posted a picture of her and her husband at the wedding of Jordan’s Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah with Princess Rajwa al Hussein on June 3.
