Kamala Claims THIS Is A Civil RIGHT?!

(RightIsRight.co) – Sparking controversy among defenders of the Second Amendment, Kamala Harris claimed during a recent executive order signing that the right to live free from gun violence is an essential civil right.

Harris made this statement during an East Room event where Joe Biden signed an executive order that aims to limit new technologies that make guns easier to fire and obtain.

According to Harris, advocating for the Second Amendment can coexist with measures to curb gun violence, including reinstating the assault weapons ban.

She emphasized, “It is a false choice to suggest you are either in favor of the Second Amendment, or you want to take everyone’s guns away. I am in favor of the Second Amendment and I believe we need to reinstate the assault weapons ban.”

In addition, this order includes researching trauma caused by active shooter drills and creating less harmful alternatives.

It also establishes a task force to investigate machine-gun conversion devices and 3D-printed guns, with a report expected in 90 days.

While restraining gun violence remains a significant issue, recent mass shootings in Birmingham, Alabama, highlighted the severity of the problem.

As of 2024, there have been at least 31 mass killings in the U.S., resulting in at least 135 deaths.

In this case, Harris leads the first-ever White House office of gun violence prevention, aiming to restrict violence, help communities recover and coordinate the federal response.

Despite Harris being a gun owner herself, her stance remains controversial. She has insisted that she does not want to take weapons away from responsible firearms owners, saying, “I am in favor of the Second Amendment, and I believe we need to reinstate the assault weapons ban.”

Meanwhile, Biden, a longtime advocate of stricter gun control, has prioritized efforts to restrain gun violence.

He has called for universal background checks and safe storage of firearms, holding negligent parents accountable.

“We just have to do better and can do better,” Biden said, also calling for better funding for federal law enforcement. “Never thought I’d have to sign something like this, but we do.”

The executive order received praise from gun-control groups but faced criticism from the National Rifle Association (NRA) Institute for Legislative Action, which argued that such measures infringe on Americans’ constitutional rights.

However, a majority of Americans, reportedly desire stricter gun laws, potentially linked to the perception that fewer guns could lead to fewer mass shootings.
