(RightIsRight.co) – Vice President Kamala Harris is facing unexpected and highly critical backlash from liberals and conservatives on social media over her reaction to last week’s anti-abortion SCOTUS ruling that killed Roe v. Wade.
After last Friday, the US Supreme Court decided that abortion as an issue belongs at the state level and that it is certainly not a “constitutional right,” as the left had alleged for decades. Harris reacted by posting on Twitter a photo of herself on Air Force 2, watching CNN’s coverage of the ruling alongside a brief comment.
“I know there are women out there who are afraid. To those of you who feel alone and scared: I want you to know the President and I are fighting for you and your rights. We are in this fight together,” the Vice President wrote.
However, her reaction to the overturning of Roe v. Wade was considered too weak and disengaged by liberals vocal on social media, as many of them joined the naturally critical conservative voices in lambasting her comment.
Liberal criticism of Harris ranged from insisting on in-depth details on how exactly she and Biden “are fighting” for abortion “rights” to blasting her staff for deciding that watching the SCOTUS ruling “from afar” could be a good photo opportunity for the Vice President.
“Could you be specific? Like, *how* are you fighting? Describe the tactics, explain the policy, give us the rundown,” tweeted Hillary Kelly, a New York Magazine contributor.
“Not VP Kamala Harris watching the erosion of #RoeVsWade from her plane, at a distance. Whoever thought this was good photo-op needs to be fired immediately. This is literally the embodiment of thoughts and prayers,” reacted writer Anna Gifty.
“36,000 feet above everything, watching on a big a– TV in a private plane, and the message is ‘we’re in this together’? I’m not sure you guys get where the rest of us are at right now,” wrote Joan McCarter, a writer for The Daily Kos.
“I want you to know: we are watching TV,” wrote actor James Urbaniak as he ironized Harris’ reaction.
Hardline abortionists may consider Harris’ commitment to abortion too unreliable, partly because in 2021, court documents revealed that she clashed with abortion providers while serving as California’s Attorney General and working on a suit against David Daleiden, an anti-abortion journalist.
