(RightIsRight.co) – Americans can soon celebrate an enduring symbol of joy and unity as the United States Postal Service (USPS) announced it will honor legendary actress Betty White with a commemorative stamp.
White, who passed away in December 2021, just shy of her 100th birthday, left an indelible mark on American culture.
Her seven-decade career in television, including roles in “The Golden Girls” and “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” showcased her wit, warmth, and unwavering commitment to family-friendly entertainment.
Unlike many of today’s celebrities, White maintained a positive public image throughout her life, earning respect across generational and political divides.
The stamp will showcase a smiling White, inspired by a 2010 photograph by Kwaku Alston and illustrated by artist Dale Stephanos.
“I’d love to send a letter back to my 18-year-old self with this stamp on it and tell him that everything is going to be OK,” Stephanos posted on Facebook.
While this tribute is well-deserved, it is worth noting that the Postal Service has not announced a specific release date, leaving fans in anticipation.
Interestingly, the USPS has also announced other stamps for 2025, including themes like the Lunar New Year’s Year of the Snake and a Black Heritage series.
White’s career began in the early 1950s, and she managed to maintain her wholesome image while still delivering bawdy jokes.
She proved that one can be entertaining without resorting to the vulgarity and moral decay so prevalent in today’s media landscape.
Moreover, White’s appeal transcended age groups. Even in her 90s, she continued to gain younger fans, demonstrating that timeless values and genuine talent always stay in style.
Even though the announcement of White’s stamp has been met with praise from fans and public figures alike, it is important to remember that this is just one small step in preserving the legacy of true American icons.
However, patriotic Americans should question whether this diversity comes at the expense of celebrating more figures who embody traditional American values.
