(RightIsRight.co) – In a tragic turn of events, legendary Queen guitarist Brian May recently shared that he suffered a stroke last week, which temporarily left him unable to use his left arm.
The 77-year-old “Don’t Stop Me Now” musician broke the news to his fans on social media, while admitting there was some uncertainty about whether he would be able to play guitar again after his “little health hiccup.”
“I’m here to bring you some good news — the good news is that I can play guitar after the events of the last few days,” May said, showing his fingers moving in an Instagram video.
He added, “I say this because it was in some doubt because that little health hiccup that I mentioned happened about a week ago and what they called it was a minor stroke. It was a little scary, I have to say.”
May explained that he lost control of his arm “out of the blue” during the scare.
Moreover, he gave credit to the medical team for their “fantastic care,” adding, “I didn’t want to say anything at the time because I didn’t want anything surrounding, you know. I really don’t want sympathy.”
“Please don’t do that because it’ll clutter up my inbox and I hate that,” he joked. “The good news is I’m okay. Just doing what I’m told, which is basically nothing. I’m grounded.”
May seemed to be in good spirits in the video, mentioning that he is not allowed to drive or board a plane because doing so could raise his heart rate.
“Not allowed to have planes flying over, which will stress me,” he said. “But I’m good.”
In turn, this is not the singer’s first health scare. In 2020, he suffered a “very near death” heart attack. Doctors found that May had three blocked arteries and fitted him with three stents to keep them open.
“It’s a long climb back,” he told the Times back then. “I’ve had complications due to the drugs I’m on, one of which was a stomach explosion that nearly killed me.”
“I don’t drink, I don’t smoke, I don’t have high cholesterol and I was exercising through the tour, so why did it happen?” he stated, expressing his confusion over the incident. “At least I now have a heart that is working far better than it was.”
