(RightIsRight.co) – Almost every American has said that they have been affected negatively by inflation, which has spiked to 40-year highs under President Joe Biden’s watch over the past year, according to the results of a new public opinion poll.
The poll conducted by YouGov and The Economist has found that 95% of all respondents have suffered from the impact of inflation “at least a little.”
“How much have you felt the impact of this high inflation in your own life?” the survey asked.
Americans have admitted overwhelmingly that they have been impacted by the rise in consumer prices regardless of their political preferences, Breitbart News reported.
A total of 98% of Republican voters, 95% of independents, and 94% of Democrat voters have said they have suffered from inflation at least to a certain extent.
At the same time, though, 56% of the respondents declared they were significantly impacted by inflation.
The YouGov/Economist survey polled 1,500 American adults on August 7 – 9.
The polling period roughly coincided with the latest report on inflation by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, which showed that consumer prices grew by 8.5% year on year in July.
That marked a slight decrease in the pace of inflation growth, compared with a 9.1% increase on an annual basis in June.
Gas prices in July were up by 44% compared with the same month last year, even though they declined by 7.1% compared with June.
However, consumer prices in several key sectors grew substantially more than the average inflation rate.
Food prices went up by 10.9% in July year-on-year, while the cost of “food away from home” increased by 13.1% annually and by 1.3% monthly.
Energy costs had increased by 32.9% year-on-year, while electricity was up by 15.2%.
In July 2022, rent costs grew by 6.3% compared with the same month of 2021 and went up by 0.7% compared with June.
