(RightIsRight.co) – Every year since the Truman presidency, First Ladies have visited a Washington, DC, children’s hospital to read a story to patients during the holiday season. But, Melania Trump’s delightful visit to Children’s National Hospital this week went mostly unnoticed by mainstream media.
On Tuesday, December 15, Mrs. Trump read “Oliver the Ornament Meets Marley & Joan and Abbey,” by author Todd Zimmerman, to a socially-distanced group of children and their families. She shared the experience on Twitter:
Had a wonderful visit with the courageous children, families & dedicated hospital professionals @ChildrensNatl. It was a pleasure to read an inspiring Christmas story & play a fun game safely w the children. #MerryChristmas pic.twitter.com/kcKgjO5aCq

After the reading, Melania went to the hospital’s Seacrest Studios to lead children in holiday-themed bingo. As she led the game, children all around the hospital tuned in via live stream to safely participate in the game.
While Melania took every necessary precaution to keep the children safe during the coronavirus pandemic, she made sure she could still spread some holiday cheer. We’re thankful for a steadfast first lady willing to share her joy with those who are hurting this year.
