(RightIsRight.co) – The miraculous rescue of 4-year-old Phenix Wilkerson, an Alabama child who was found in the woods after being missing for nearly three days, has united everyone involved in a shared sentiment: a belief that divine intervention played a role in the outcome.
Markeith Williams, credited with finding Phenix, expressed a profound sense of spiritual guidance in his involvement. “As I was getting closer to him, my heart started rushing so that’s how I knew I was getting close,’’ he said. “I knew it was God with me.”
Williams had initially planned to attend church that Sunday but felt a divine calling to join the search instead, a decision he now deeply cherishes. “I was doing that,’’ he said, “because God sent me to do that.”
Barbour County Sheriff Tyrone Smith also acknowledged the role of faith in the search. “I would not be truthful if I told you that me and many others were probably thinking and looking for another result, but thank God it didn’t happen and I’m glad we got the result that we do have,” he said. While noting that there are still unanswered questions in the case, Sheriff Smith expressed gratitude for Phenix’s safe return and confirmed that the investigation will continue.
The search for Phenix, non-verbal and autistic, required a concerted effort from law enforcement, first responders, and volunteers like Mr. Williams.
Sheriff Smith extended his gratitude to everyone involved, including the churches and volunteers who provided meals and support throughout the search. “None of this would have been possible without these individuals, these agencies, and volunteers,” he stated.
Phenix’s grandparents, Andy Pittman and Sandra Yoemans, also voiced their heartfelt thanks and relief. Pittman remarked, “I would like to thank each and every person that has been here, that has helped with this search, and most of all I would like to thank the good Lord above for bringing him back to us alive.”
Similarly, Yoemans expressed her joy and gratitude: “I’m over ecstatic, I am praising God because this is his miracle that he brought this baby home,” adding her thanks for the prayers and efforts of everyone who participated in the search.
