Kendra Greene from Florida was arrested after stabbing three hospital employees and taking her infant from the ventilator that the three-day-old was using.

Following Thursday night’s incident, Greene was arrested on suspicion of two counts of aggravated battery using a deadly weapon, one count of resisting arrest, aggravated child abuse, and simple battery respectively.

According to the Fox Orlando report, Greene had just given birth three days prior and her child was at the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at the Palms West Hospital. On Thursday she returned to the NICU to take her child, there she attempted to remove the child from the ventilator and used a knife when hospital employees attempted to block her.

The incident resulted in three employees being injured and treated at the hospital for their non-life-threatening injuries.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office reported that after taking the baby, Greene had left it with one of her family members. The baby was then taken back to the hospital where its condition was stabilized. Hospital authorities had reported that Greene had violently taken the ventilator out of the baby’s mouth, and had also detached the child from the feeding tube and the life support devices that were helping keep the infant alive.

Greene had hidden the child under her shirt when she tried to remove the infant from the building. However, a “code pink” announcement was quickly made over the hospital’s loudspeaker which indicated that there was a child abduction happening. As a result, workers needed to try and block anyone who attempted to leave the area.
