(RightIsRight.co) – Authorities in Cochise County, Arizona, have arrested 66-year-old Ronald Lee Syvrud from Benson on charges that he threatened to kill GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump.
As reported by the local sheriff’s office, the arrest occurred without any problems.
Syvrud was already wanted on multiple warrants before this incident, including charges of DUI and failure to appear for a DUI in Wisconsin.
He was also wanted for hit and run and felony charges for failing to register as a sex offender in Graham County, Arizona.
Additionally, an absconder hold was in place for him in Cochise County for failing to register as a sex offender.
The arrest concluded a manhunt that began when Syvrud was pinpointed as a person of interest in threats made against a presidential candidate, which local reports did not initially confirm as Trump.
However, during a campaign stop in the area, Trump mentioned to the press that he had been briefed on a potential threat to his safety, though he did not receive detailed information about it.
The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office acknowledged the cooperation of various public safety partners in securing Syvrud’s arrest.
They are continuing their investigation into the threats and the other legal issues involving Syvrud, working alongside local, state, and federal authorities.
This incident brings back memories of the failed assassination attempt on Trump last month at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
At the event, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks evaded Secret Service agents and positioned himself on a rooftop with an AR-15-style rifle.
From there, he fired several shots that narrowly missed Trump, only grazing his ear.
However, Crooks managed to kill one bystander and injure two other rallygoers before counter-snipers shot him dead.
