(RightIsRight.co) – The Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) work protecting our borders is an enormous part of our national security. Rather than thanking DHS and the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agencies for their work, though, House Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is calling for their abolition.
On Monday, February 22, the Washington Post reported that a holding center in Carrizo Springs, Texas reopened for children who came to the US by themselves. In response, Ocasio-Cortez condemned the move and declared that “DHS shouldn’t exist” and “ICE gotta go.”
The New York lawmaker is pushing to completely abolish the agencies. She’s partnering with many Democrats, including representative Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), to introduce a new immigration plan that would severely limit the government from arresting illegal immigrants and instead give them a swift path to citizenship.
Fox News contributor Rachel Campos-Duffy called out AOC for her misleading proposal:

AOC continues to push radical policies that are not grounded in data or practicality. Anytime our nation takes a step back from immigration enforcement, it only encourages more people to flood our borders. Rather than pushing to abolish agencies that ensure our national security, we should be thankful for their work protecting our country from those wishing to do us harm.
