(RightIsRight.co) – This week, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi noted that House Democrats would consider pursuing legislation banning “assault” rifles, a move that marks an escalation in the response from Congress following the massacres at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, and a grocery store in Buffalo, New York.
According to reports, Democratic lawmakers have already scheduled a vote for next week to vote on so-called “red flag” legislation.
Red flag legislation is aimed at preventing those who have been deemed a threat to themselves and others from purchasing firearms.
The House Judiciary Committee met to discuss eight anti-gun laws, including banning high-capacity magazines and raising the minimum age for purchasing semiautomatic rifles.
At an anti-gun event in San Francisco, Pelosi stated that House Democrats would look into legislation to warn the public of an active shooter.
Pelosi noted that after getting through that legislation, Democrats “will be having a hearing and marking up the assault weapon ban,” adding that Democrats are “just are trying to hit it every possible way.”
