Police Find Body of Missing Student

(RightIsRight.co) – When parents send their kids off to college, they look forward to their children learning more about the world and how it works. However, a horrific circumstance cut one Florida student’s time short when a maintenance man allegedly killed her after she pushed back against his multiple romantic advances.

On Saturday, October 2, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office announced that it had found a body believed to be 19-year old Miya Marcano who had been missing since Friday, September 24. She lived and worked at the Arden Villa apartment complex. However, police found a body they believe to be hers about 17 miles away in a wooded area after using the cell phone records of her alleged killer.

Currently, 27-year old Armando Caballero is the prime suspect in her death. He worked as a maintenance worker at Marcano’s apartment complex and expressed interest in her. Officers found him dead in his home from an apparent suicide after Marcano’s disappearance.

One freelance writer shared more of the scary details of this story:

Marcano’s family is mourning the loss of their daughter and working to ensure harm does not come to other young women in similar situations. Daryl K. Washington, the family’s lawyer, emphasized “there need to be changes” to security at apartment complexes, as Marcano’s alleged killer used a master key to easily enter her apartment.

Hopefully, landlords and apartment complexes take this seriously moving forward and go the extra mile to ensure the safety and security of their tenants.
