Republican Rep. Tim Tiffany (Wis.) ruffled the feathers of Democratic Lawmakers when he asked why Hunter Biden hadn’t been arrested during a hearing on the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Tiffany’s remarks related to Hunter Biden allegedly lying on a gun transaction form, a question Democrats were quick to point out was irrelevant.
During the hearing titled “ATF’s Assault on the Second Amendment: When is Enough Enough?” the Wisconsin Republican addressed the Senior Policy Director for Everytown for Gun Safety, Rob Wilcox, querying how President Joe Biden’s son had evaded prosecution for allegedly breaking the law.
Tiffany began his questioning of Wilcox by clarifying whether someone who lies on “ATF Form 4473 and is a user of unlawful drugs” would receive “five to ten years” incarceration for the crime.
Wilcox responded by saying the sentence was now up to 15 years.
Tiffany then asked why the younger Biden hadn’t “been prosecuted for the crime he committed?” prompting noise from the hearing room.
Wilcox asserted he wasn’t “aware of the facts” in Hunter Biden’s case and, therefore, couldn’t comment.
Tiffany asked a follow-up question about who would be spoken to find out “why this case is not being prosecuted?” noting that in Hunter Biden’s book, he admits to being on illicit substances at the time he acquired the gun.
Tiffany’s line of questioning drew the ire of one Democratic Lawmaker, who called a point of order, describing the Wisconsin Republican’s line of questioning as “totally irrelevant” to the hearing.
