Right-Wing Populists Score Huge Victories

HAPPENING NOW

(RightIsRight.co) – Faced with stunning huge victories by populist right-wing parties in Europe, French President Emmanuel Macron has been forced to call for an emergency election.

This decision came after voters dealt a blow to Macron’s centrist party in the European Parliament election, which prompted him to dissolve the National Assembly.

Marine Le Pen’s anti-immigration, anti-EU National Rally party, Macron’s key opponent, is projected to secure over 31% of the votes, outstripping Macron’s pro-European centrist party by a considerable margin.

“The French people have sent a very clear message. They no longer want a technocratic, out-of-touch European construction which results in a loss of influence, identity and freedom,” Le Pen stated.

In Germany, the right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfD) party clinched second place with 16.5% of the vote, surpassing Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s party.

Alice Weidel, co-head of the AfD, touted her party’s projected victories despite the negative headlines that have followed them, which included the conviction of one of their leading politicians last month for closing out a campaign speech with the infamous Nazi slogan, “Everything for Germany!”

“We’ve done well because people have become more anti-European,” she remarked, citing frustrations with Brussels’ bureaucracy.

Moreover, recent results indicated a notable shift to the right in the European Parliament, potentially leading to EU fragmentation.

“This is a hard defeat for us today,” expressed the head of Germany’s Social Democrats, Kevin Kühnert.

Meanwhile, in Belgium, Prime Minister Alexander De Croo announced his resignation after his center-right party’s projected vote share plummeted to less than 5%.

The right-wing anti-immigration Vlaams Belang party secured second place with 17.5% of the vote.

These outcomes are expected to complicate negotiations in Belgium, a linguistically divided nation.

Similar shifts were anticipated in other EU countries, with Austria’s right-wing Freedom Party leading in the polls.

This change in the European Parliament’s makeup could hinder legislative processes and potentially stall the EU’s functioning as conservatives prioritize national interests over EU-wide concerns.
