(RightIsRight.co) – Once a Hollywood icon and ‘Die Hard’ star, former actor Bruce Willis now faces a battle against frontotemporal dementia (FTD).
Emma Heming Willis, Bruce’s devoted wife, recently disclosed that his early signs of FTD were tragically dismissed due to his lifelong struggle with stuttering.
“Bruce has always had a stutter, but he has been good at covering it up,” Emma revealed, highlighting how the actor’s resilience may have inadvertently masked his condition.
The family’s struggle to get a proper diagnosis exposes the flaws in the current administration’s healthcare system.
It took until 2022 for Willis to be diagnosed with aphasia and another year before the devastating FTD diagnosis was confirmed.
“For Bruce, it started in his temporal lobes and then has spread to the frontal part of his brain. It attacks and destroys a person’s ability to walk, think, make decisions,” his wife explained.
Meanwhile, the Willis family’s fight against FTD highlights the urgent need for increased research and awareness.
With 50,000 to 60,000 Americans affected by this condition, the government should prioritize funding for diseases that impact the most vulnerable citizens, rather than wasting taxpayer dollars on frivolous liberal agendas.
Emma has taken up the mantle of advocacy, collaborating with Bruce’s children to raise awareness and even supporting the creation of an FTD registry in New York.
“Today there are no treatments for the disease, a reality that we hope can change in the years ahead,” the family stated.
They added, “As Bruce’s condition advances, we hope that any media attention can be focused on shining a light on this disease that needs far more awareness and research.”
