(RightIsRight.co) – Despite terrorist threats against her fans and shows, Taylor Swift’s concerts at Wembley Stadium in London later this month will continue as planned with extra security.
This decision follows the cancellation of her three Eras Tour shows in Vienna, which were disrupted by a terrorist plot linked to the Islamic State. Thankfully, U.S. and Austrian officials managed to successfully stop the threat.
According to TMZ, Taylor’s upcoming London concerts will have additional private security focused on counterterrorism. Wembley Stadium already has high-level security measures in place, making it one of the safest venues in Europe, but concerns remain.
Diana Johnson, the UK’s Minister for Policing, confirmed that Scotland Yard is reviewing intelligence ahead of the concerts.
“Clearly, the police will be looking at all the intelligence and making decisions, they risk assess every event that happens in this country, and that’s something for the police,” Johnson said.
Johnson also mentioned the possibility of invoking Martyn’s Law, which ensures that venues at risk of terrorist attacks have all necessary safety measures in place.
Furthermore, London Mayor Sadiq Khan expressed understanding for Vienna’s decision to cancel Swift’s shows but assured, “We’re going to carry on.”
The additional counterterrorism security at Wembley indicates that both the stadium and concert organizers are taking extra precautions for Taylor’s London performances.
Additionally, White House National Security spokesman John Kirby addressed the U.S. role in supporting Austria with intelligence related to the Swift concerts, “The United States has an enduring focus on our counterterrorism mission. We work closely with partners all over the world to monitor and disrupt threats.”
He added, “And so as part of that work, the United States did share information with Austrian partners to enable the disruption of a threat to Taylor Swift’s concerts there in Vienna.”
In a 2019 interview with Elle magazine, Swift revealed that an attack at one of her shows was “her biggest fear.”
“There was a tremendous amount of planning, expense, and effort put into keeping my fans safe,” she commented.
