(RightIsRight.co) – US and NATO forces have been slowly pulling out of Afghanistan in the past few weeks, with most US forces quietly leaving last week. But, even those who were happy to see an end to US troops in Afghanistan are weary now as new footage shows the Taliban taking over the provincial capitol.
On Wednesday, July 7, reports showed that the Taliban invaded the western city of Qala-i-Naw. The provinces’ governor Hessamuddin Shams told reporters that “all the districts have fallen”, and some videos showed the terrorists likely emptying the prison which housed even more Taliban fighters. Other videos even showed locals welcoming the Taliban into their city with cheers.
The Afghanistan Times shared the news as it broke:
#Taliban attacked and entered provincial capital of western #Badghis province, the first to be attacked by Taliban since the withdrawal of the foreign forces.

Many Afghan soldiers have fled the city and many are heading over the border to Tajikistan. However, reports have shown that the Taliban also overtook the Sher Khan Bandar bridge, which borders Tajikistan and brings in nearly $5 million a year in customs fees, which will now be funneled into Taliban bank accounts.
On Thursday, July 8, President Joe Biden’s press secretary Jen Psaki acknowledged there will be no “mission-accomplished moment” in Afghanistan. However, many Americans believe that is an understatement. Not only will there not be a victory, but this decision and subsequent attack by the Taliban could lead to fighting and chaos in the Middle East for years to come.
