Republican Sen. Ted Cruz (Texas) has slammed the FBI for refusing to answer questions about the evidence they have about an alleged multimillion-dollar bribery scheme involving President Joe Biden.
Reports recently surfaced that in 2020, the FBI was told that the head of Burisma Holdings, a Ukrainian natural gas company, allegedly paid $5 million to President Joe Biden when he was Vice President.
Biden’s son Hunter Biden sat on the board of the company.
On Tuesday (June 13), during a Senate hearing, Cruz pressed FBI Deputy Director Paul Abbate on whether the bureau currently has a report on the Biden family’s bribery allegations, whether they are investigating the allegations, and providing the Senate with documents and records requested to verify their credibility, but Abbate declined to comment.
In response to Cruz’s questions, Abbate said, “I’m just not gonna comment on information we’ve received, investigations … that’s an area I’m not going to get into.”
According to sources familiar with the document, the FBI reportedly has Form FD-1023 detailing the FBI interview with a “highly credible” confidential source about alleged meetings with senior Burisma executives.
There are also allegedly 17 known voice recordings between the Burisman informant and Joe and Hunter Biden.
When queried if the FBI would be willing to provide FD-1023 and the 17 audio recordings to the Senate committee, Abbate again said he would not comment.
Cruz said those responses were “damaging” to the bureau, adding that “The American people have a right to know” if credible evidence existed about the President of the United States taking a $5 million bribe.
