Andrew Giuliani will coordinate government agencies for the massive sporting event spanning the U.S., Mexico, and Canada.

Trump announced Giuliani’s appointment as the task force’s executive director at a White House meeting attended by Vice President JD Vance, FIFA President Gianni Infantino, and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.

The task force was established in March to assist with the FIFA Club World Cup and the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will bring hundreds of thousands of international visitors to American soil.

“I am proud to announce the appointment of Andrew Giuliani as the Executive Director of the President’s Task Force on the 2026 FIFA World Cup,” Trump stated, highlighting Giuliani’s qualifications for the position.

Giuliani brings relevant experience to the role, having previously served as the president’s special assistant during Trump’s first administration.

The President specifically noted Giuliani played “a key role in creating the system that enabled athletes from around the World to re-enter the United States during the Reopening of America in 2020.”

Carlos Cordeiro, former President of the U.S. Soccer Federation and instrumental in securing America’s bid to host the tournament, will serve as Senior Advisor to the task force.

His appointment demonstrates Trump’s strategy of pairing sports leadership expertise with government coordination capabilities.

“I know Andrew and Carlos will work tirelessly to make the 2026 FIFA World Cup an unprecedented success,” Trump said confidently.

Meanwhile, the economic impact of the World Cup is expected to be substantial for host cities. Up to 450,000 visitors could potentially visit each location, generating an economic impact of up to $480 million.

The tournament represents a major opportunity for American businesses and will create jobs while showcasing America’s ability to host world-class events.

In addition, the United States will host the lion’s share of the tournament, with 78 of the 104 World Cup games taking place across 11 American cities, including Miami, Boston, and Seattle.

The championship game will be played at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, bringing the world’s most-watched sporting event to the New York metropolitan area.

Vice President JD Vance emphasized that while politics often divides Americans, sports like soccer bring people together.

He highlighted the event’s non-political nature and the opportunity to showcase American hospitality to the world, reinforcing the administration’s message of unity and national pride.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy have both committed to ensuring the event’s safety and security.

They have addressed concerns about properly vetting the massive influx of international visitors.

Their involvement signals the administration’s whole-of-government approach to making the tournament successful while maintaining strong border security.

The 2026 World Cup represents a unique opportunity for the Trump administration to demonstrate American exceptionalism on a global stage while boosting local economies across the country.

With Giuliani at the helm, the task force aims to deliver an unforgettable tournament that makes American patriots proud.
