A day after a Washington Post/ABC News poll showed former President Donald Trump with a significant lead over President Joe Biden for a potential 2024 race, a new HarrisX poll indicates a similar trend. This new poll presents Trump with a 5-point advantage over Biden, scoring 46% to Biden’s 41%. This result surpasses the poll’s margin of error, which stands at +/- 1.8 percentage points.

Recent data from the RealClearPolitics Polling Average for September consistently displays Trump either leading Biden or matching him closely.

Breaking down the HarrisX poll further, Trump holds an 8-point lead over Biden among independent voters (42% to 34%) and a 10-point advantage among those who identify with third parties (25% to 15%).

Interestingly, a significant 69% of polled registered voters believe Biden shouldn’t attempt a reelection bid. This sentiment is shared by 78% of independent voters and a whopping 93% of third-party voters.

Biden’s approval ratings also seem challenged, with a net 56% of respondents disapproving of his performance while only 40% approve. Among those polled, only a fraction of Republicans, third-party voters, and independents approve of Biden.

Regarding the GOP’s potential 2024 presidential candidates, Trump holds a commanding lead at 56%. Following him are Florida Governor Ron DeSantis at 14% and a list of other potential candidates, including former Vice President Mike Pence, Nikki Haley, and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy. 1% of respondents opted for “someone else” and 7% remained undecided.
