According to a report published by CNN on Friday (June 2), former President Donald Trump’s lawyers have not found the document he was allegedly recorded discussing taking from the White House.

Two sources told CNN that the lawyers provided the material to the FBI in response to a March subpoena about the document discussed by Trump, but the document itself has yet to be found.

On Wednesday (May 31), CNN first reported that the Department of Justice (DOJ) had obtained a July 2021 audio recording of Trump speaking at his golf club in Bedminster, N.J.

The document mentioned in the recording reportedly came from outgoing Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley and detailed a potential U.S. attack on Iran.

Sources also revealed to CNN that prosecutors seek “any and all” documents and materials related to Milley and Iran, including maps and possible attack plans.

Prosecutors also sent similar subpoenas to at least one other person present at the Bedminster meeting.

According to the sources, prosecutors expressly indicated to Trump’s lawyers that they wanted the document Trump described in the audio recording and any classified material he might still have.

The former president shot down reports that the DOJ had recordings, telling Fox News host Sean Hannity at an Iowa town hall on Thursday (June 1), “I don’t know anything about it. All I know is this: Everything I did was right.”

Trump has vigorously defended himself in the investigation into classified and sensitive documents found at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, saying that he had already declassified them.
