(RightIsRight.co) – Terminating decades of media gatekeeping that has favored left-wing outlets, President Trump’s administration is taking back control of the White House press pool.
Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt communicated that the White House will now directly determine which journalists attend daily press briefings, challenging the entrenched media establishment that has consistently attacked the President.
The decision follows a court ruling that denied the Associated Press’s request to restore its access after being excluded from White House events.
This move signals the administration’s commitment to breaking the stranglehold that establishment media has maintained over presidential coverage for generations.
For too long, Americans have received their White House news filtered through a small group of DC insiders with clear anti-Trump biases.
Leavitt explained that this change aims to modernize media access and diversify the press pool beyond the traditional elite journalists who have dominated coverage.
Secretary Leavitt declared:
“It’s beyond time that the White House press operation reflects the media habits of the American people in 2025, not 1925. A select group of DC-based journalists should no longer have a monopoly over the privilege of press access at the White House.”
The White House Correspondents’ Association, which has traditionally controlled press access, was not consulted before the announcement.
The association immediately criticized the decision as undermining press freedom, despite years of their members showing clear bias against conservative values and the MAGA movement.

Major TV networks like ABC, CBS, CNN, Fox News, and NBC will maintain their access, but the administration plans to include new and emerging outlets that better represent how Americans actually consume news in 2025.
This includes digital platforms and streaming services that reach broader audiences outside the Washington bubble.
Leavitt emphasized that this change will “restore power to the American people” by allowing a more diverse set of voices to report on White House activities.
The Trump administration has already expanded access to Oval Office events with little opposition, proving that more inclusive coverage is both possible and beneficial.
Meanwhile, the White House press pool has traditionally included wire services like AP, Reuters, and Bloomberg in every pool, with additional rotating representatives for print, radio, and TV.
This system has effectively allowed establishment media to control the narrative about presidential activities.
While media elites complain about losing their privileged position, many Americans see this as a long-overdue correction. One insider bluntly stated, “F–k the AP. They screwed us all.”
Despite concerns from the press establishment, this change likely will not radically alter which journalists have access due to logistical constraints of the White House press facilities.
What it does accomplish is breaking the undemocratic power of unelected media gatekeepers who have shown consistent hostility toward the President and his supporters.
The ongoing legal battle with the Associated Press continues, with the next hearing set for March 20.
For now, the Trump administration is reclaiming its constitutional right to communicate directly with the American people through journalists who will report fairly rather than those committed to undermining the President’s America First agenda.
