(RightIsRight.co) – In a shocking revelation, the Food Drug Administration (FDA) has uncovered serious health hazards of the so-called “natural” toothpaste brand Tom’s of Maine.
This liberal-pandering company, owned by corporate giant Colgate-Palmolive, has been caught using bacteria-laden water in their products, potentially endangering American families.
The FDA’s inspection of the company’s facility revealed a grim scene of contamination and neglect.
Water used in toothpaste production was found to contain dangerous bacteria, including antibiotic-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Ralstonia insidiosa, which can cause severe infections.
Even more alarming, inspectors discovered a black mold-like substance near toothpaste production equipment.
Furthermore, the agency did not mince words in its scathing critique of Tom’s of Maine and parent company Colgate-Palmolive.
They slammed the company for its inadequate response and lack of investigation into the contamination. Profits were prioritized over the health and safety of American consumers.
Even more concerning is the fact that Tom’s of Maine continued to release contaminated products. Despite containing bacteria, a batch of “Wicked Cool! Anticavity toothpaste” was sold.
The FDA’s investigation also revealed that the company has been aware of bacterial contamination issues since 2021.
For years, Tom’s of Maine has been putting American families at risk while masquerading as a trustworthy, eco-conscious brand.
The company’s water system is inadequate, according to the warning letter written by the Director of the FDA’s Office of Manufacturing Quality, Francis Godwin, which the FDA recently shared online.
“Water is a major ingredient in many of your (over-the-counter) drug products,” he wrote. “It is essential that you employ a water system that is robustly designed and that you effectively control, maintain and monitor the system to ensure it consistently produces water suitable for pharmaceutical use.”
In a statement, Tom’s of Maine said the company is working with the agency to remedy the issues and is in the midst of an ongoing “significant” upgrade to the Sanford plant’s water system.
“We have always tested finished goods before they leave our control, and we remain fully confident in the safety and quality of the toothpaste we make,” it said.
It continued, “In addition, we have engaged water specialists to evaluate our systems at Sanford, have implemented additional safeguards to ensure compliance with FDA standards, and our water testing shows no issues.
The company said it is committed to making safe and effective products and maintaining trust in the Tom’s of Maine brand.
This is not the first time the FDA has scrutinized Tom’s of Maine. In 2016, the company received citations for similar issues, including improper employee training, unsanitary buildings, and inadequate procedures to prevent product contamination, but the agency never issued a warning.
